FIRE Awards 2018 invites applicants coming from different countries in Africa to submit their project proposals. Three proposals will be selected and each selected project will receive a cash prize of $3000. The call for proposals will be open until 27 July 2018.
FIRE Awards is granted to initiatives that are on the last stages of implementation or that have finalized activities already.
External jurors who are members of the AFRINIC community but not staff members will carry out the selection for the Awards Program programs.
The three winners of the FIRE Award Program will be invited at the IGF Awards Ceremony in Paris 12 – 14th November 2018. Travel and accommodation will be provided for the awardees.
The Fund for Internet Research and Education (FIRE) is a grants and awards program designed to encourage and support the development of innovative solutions to address Africa’s education, information, infrastructure and communication needs.
Since 2007, FIRE Africa has provided funds for projects, initiatives, tools and platforms that harness the power of the Internet to empower the local and regional community to solve the region’s unique online communications problems. FIRE Africa has grown into a fully-fledged programme that has helped 46 initiatives in more than 20 countries over the last ten years.
