On behalf of the Bylaws Review Committee (BRC), we would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in the initial community consultation on the review of AFRINIC's Constitution. The Committee greatly appreciates the time, effort and constructive feedback received from across the community.
Following the close of the first consultation, the Committee carefully reviewed every submission received. Comments were analysed both individually and collectively to identify common themes, areas of consensus, and issues requiring further consideration. In developing the proposed amendments, the Committee also took into account applicable legal and regulatory requirements, recognised principles of good corporate governance, operational practicality, and AFRINIC's long-term sustainability.
The Committee is now pleased to publish the draft proposed amended Constitution for a second round of community consultation. For ease of reference, a PDF version of the complete proposed amended Constitution is available for download below.
The consultation platform enables the community to review, on a section-by-section basis:
- the existing constitutional provision;
- the corresponding proposed amendment;
- the rationale for the proposed amendment; and
- submit comments on each provision.
The community consultation will be open from 04 August to 21 August 2026 at 23:59 UTC. We encourage all members of the AFRINIC community to review the proposed amendments and share their comments before the closing date.
Following the consultation, the Committee will consider all comments received and make any revisions it considers appropriate. The final draft will then undergo an independent external legal review before the Committee submits its recommendations to the AFRINIC Board. Subject to the Board's approval, the proposed amended Constitution will thereafter be presented to the AFRINIC membership for consideration at a Special General Members Meeting.
