Nomination Committee
The Nomination Committee (NomCom) is set up under Article 9 of the AFRINIC Bylaws. It consists of a chairman and three other members appointed by the Board and composed of qualified and experienced persons. The Board makes a public call for voluntary nomination from the African Internet Community.
No person is qualified for appointment to the NomCom if he/she is a candidate for election to the Board or is domiciled in a region whose seat is open for renewal during an election, and no member of the NomCom is eligible to stand as a candidate for any election in respect of which the NomCom is required to find suitable candidates. The NomCom reports to the Board and operates under such guidelines as may be prescribed by the Board.
Functions
The NomCom shall:
- use its best effort towards ensuring that a satisfactory number of individuals from the African Internet community stand as a candidate for the election of the directors of AFRINIC; and
- have general responsibility for, and supervise the conduct of the polls by the Election Committee on election day.
In the discharge of this function, the NomCom:
- calls for candidates for elections held by AFRINIC;
- prescribes criteria and qualifications for eligibility to stand as a candidate for elections held by AFRINIC;
- may review candidates prior to finalising the list of candidature; and
- finalises the list of candidates for any election held by AFRINIC.
Nomination Committee 2026
The Nomination Committee 2026 was appointed by the AFRINIC Board on 2 April 2026, in accordance with the provisions of Article 9 of the AFRINIC Constitution.
