
As part of its support and oversight responsibilities, the AFRINIC Governance Committee provides its expertise and strategic guidance to the Board of Directors, organisation members, and the broader Internet community on all governance-related matters.
In accordance with its Terms of Reference (available at https://afrinic.net/governance-committee), the committee is composed of:
- Three (3) members elected by the AFRINIC Membership;
- Two (2) members appointed by the AFRINIC Board of Directors;
- One (1) AFRINIC Board member appointed as a non-voting liaison;
- The AFRINIC Legal Adviser as a non-voting member; and
- One or more representatives from the AFRINIC Secretariat as non-voting members.
The AFRINIC Board started the reconstitution process with the election of three members elected by the AFRINIC Membership at the AFRINIC Annual General Members Meeting (AGMM 2026) held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Board then conducted the next stage inviting volunteers from the AFRINIC community to be considered for appointment as the two (2) Board-appointed members of the Governance Committee.
Following the conclusion of this process, the AFRINIC Board is pleased to announce the constitution of the AFRINIC Governance Committee as follows:
Elected by the AFRINIC Membership
- Mr Daniel Khauka Nanghaka — until 31 December 2029
- Ms Afaf El Maayati — until 31 December 2028
- Dr Maud Adjeley Ashong Elliot — until 31 December 2027
Appointed by the Board
- Ms Phumzile Madonsela — until 31 December 2027
- Mr Eddy Lareine — until 31 December 2028
Board Liaison
- Mr Laurent Ntumba — until 31 December 2027
Mr B. Radhakissoon serves as Legal Adviser to the Governance Committee and Mrs Guylaine Laiyra as Secretary to the Governance Committee.
AFRINIC extends its appreciation to all the volunteers who have contributed to this process, and welcomes the incoming members of the Governance Committee. The Committee will now proceed with its work in accordance with its mandate.
