Who We Are
African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC) is the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) for Africa. It is responsible for the distribution and management of Internet number resources - IP address space (IPv4 and IPv6) and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) - in its service region, which includes Africa and the Indian Ocean region.
Since its inception, AFRINIC has been engaged in providing professional and efficient distribution of Internet number resources to the African Internet community to support Internet technology usage and development across the continent and to strengthen Internet self-governance in the continent through a bottom-up multi-stakeholder Policy Development Process.
AFRINIC also conducts technical capacity building in Internet technologies across the continent and supports innovative initiatives that have made important contributions through the use of information and communications technologies. These interventions have had a proven impact on the region’s social and economic development. Accordingly, AFRINIC sees the value of sponsoring ICT events in Africa as part of its Community Development activities.
AFRINIC has previously funded various regional ICT events including as Women in ICT, Girl in Coding, NOGs and others.
