Instructional Designer

Introduction

We are looking for for an Instructional Designer to design and develop engaging e-learning content in line with AFRINIC’s capacity building mission. The goal is to scale our current training activities using modern, elegantly designed and highly interactive online modules. This role reports to the Head of Capacity Building.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design e-learning experience from existing training content as well as new ones
    • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
    • State instructional goals and apply instructional design theories, and methods
    • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Develop validate e-learning designs
    • Create supporting material (audio, video, simulations, role play, games etc)
    • Implement the course using the latest e-learning technologies
  • Promote and drive uptake of the e-learning program
  • Manage, support and engage the learners
  • Maintain documentation on all work done

 

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years experience using graphic software (Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, Adobe Photoshop, or similar)
  • 3 - 5 years experience in web technologies (HTML5, CSS, Javascript etc)
  • 3 - 5 years experience using e-learning authoring software (like Adobe Captivate)
  • 1 - 3 years experience using animation software like Adobe Animate or similar
  • 1 - 3 years experience using open source learning management systems (LMS) like OpenEdx or Instructure Canvas
  • Ability to independently research and implement technology without supervision
  • Excellent communication skills - writing, speaking and presentations
  • Highly organized and can work without supervision

 

About the Capacity Building Department

This is the department that’s responsible for

  1. Training - the knowledge and skills necessary to plan for, request and manage Internet number resources; deploy IPv6 networks and implementing supporting technologies for an effective Internet infrastructure in Africa.
  2. Community support and outreach through its IPv6 Programme, Infrastructure development and support, DNS/DNSSEC and RPKI projects.
