It's not too hard to imagine a world where almost everything is connected to the Internet. In the last few years, we've seen an explosion of smart devices and 'things' connected to the Internet which together form the Internet of Things. But what is the Internet of Things (IoT) exactly, and why should we care?

Those who attended the final day of the African Internet Summit 2016 (AIS’16), which took place back in June in Gaborone, Botswana, were treated to a personal and informative history lesson on the establishment of the Internet in Africa.
Delivered by five of the Internet’s forefathers – George Sadowsky, Alan Barrett, Alan Greenberg, Dr Nii Quaynor and Pierre Dandjinou – the session allowed panellists to share their experiences and what they believed were key events that led to us where we are today and where we are going in the future.

AFRINIC's IPV6 and INRM Training Team wrapped up a four-day training session held in N'Djamena, Chad.
Forty-two people attended the training.
Running from 13 - 16 September 2016, the training sessions were conducted at the Universite Virtuelle - N'Djamena Chad
