We've just announced that registration for the Africa Internet Summit 2016 (AIS'16) is open and would like to extend a warm invite to all of you. We've put together a list of FAQs about the meeting to answer any queries about the event that you may have.

What is an AIS?

Now on its fourth edition, the AIS is a regional, multi-stakeholder ICT conference which brings together Africa's ICT technical and business community to discuss regional and global ICT issues and challenges. How do I register for AIS'16?

You can register here. Upon registration you shall be automaically subscribed to our AIS'16 mailing lists where we shall keep you updated with the latest news on AIS'16.  

Who can attend the AIS'16? 

Anyone who has an interest in IP address management and policy development, Internet governance and Internet development in Africa and beyond. Each year we welcome attendees from all over Africa and beyond from many different sectors, including technical organisations, government institutions, academia, public and private sectors, technical, civil and society.

Do I need to be an AFRINIC Member to attend? 

No. Anyone is welcome and you do not need to be an AFRINIC Member to attend.

Can AFRINIC help me to get a visa for Botswana and/or a transit visa for South Africa so I can attend the event?

Unfortunately we are unable to offer assistance with visas for the AIS'16 and encourage you to contact your local embassy as soon as possible to ensure that your visa(s) are processed on time. I've never been to an AIS before. Can someone help me find my way around?

Absolutely! We have put together a Newcomers' Team to welcome you to the event and help you find your feet. They'll help you navigate the agenda, point out key people in the community, explain to you how the policy development process works and answer any other questions about the event you may have | More information.

Do you offer fellowships for the AIS?

Yes we do. The application is now closed and we'll be announcing the fellowship winners by May 02.

I'm unable to attend the event in person. Can I still participate?

Definitely. Remote participation is facilitated and highly encouraged. Just because you are not in the meeting room doesn't mean that you can't share your opinion | More information.
