AFRINIC, the African Network Information Centre, is one of the five Regional Internet Registries in the world, ensuring a fair management and distribution of Internet number resources in the African region. Like the other four Regional Internet Registries, AFRINIC is a member of the Number Resources Organization and operates as a non-governmental and not-for-profit member based organisation.

 


 

What is IPv6?

IPv6 stands for “Internet Protocol Version 6” the successor of IPv4 – “Internet Protocol Version 4”, on which most of the Internet currently runs. It has been created as the long-term solution to forecasted IPv4 depletion.
