AFRINIC’s training session kicks off in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

As part of AFRINIC’s commitment to improve capacity in Africa, it is conducting, beginning Tuesday, 28 May 2013 until Friday 31 May, a training on Internet number resources management (INRM) and IPv6 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The training is being hosted by ICT Center of Excellence.

The course aims at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to design an IPv6 address scheme for their organisations; configure IPv6 on Windows/Mac and Linux desktop operating systems; build a routed IPv6 network using both static routing and OSPFv3; and configure tunneling techniques to allow v6-capable sites talk to other v6 sites across a v4-only network.

 As part of AFRINIC’s commitment to improve capacity in Africa, it is conducting, beginning Monday, May 6 until Thursday May 9, a training on Internet number resources management (INRM) and IPv6 in Cape Town, South Africa. The training is being hosted by Future Perfect Corporation (Vanilla) and Dotcoza.

   

AFRINIC Policy Development WG: Call for nomination for 1 co-chair

AFRINIC is seeking nominations for a co-chair of the Policy Development Working Group (PDWG) for a two-year term.

PDWG co-chairs are a group of volunteers selected by the community (PDWG) as per the current Policy Development Process (PDP) whose responsibilities are as follows: 

  1. Chairing policy meeting sessions and declaring consensus.
  2. Creating post-meeting policy reports and posting to the mailing list.
  3. Sending notifications of Last Call and evaluating consensus or lack thereof.
  4. Writing reports to the AFRINIC Board to recommend ratification of policy proposals that gained consensus.
  5. Evaluating emergencies that necessitate varying the normal policy development process. 
  6. Creating reports (summaries) of mailing list discussions in preparation for face-to-face meetings.
